He has loved us all with a human heart (CCC 478).
And a sword will pierce your own soul too.
Love is at the heart of our faith: God’s love for us; our love for God. Jesus gave himself up for each one of us. As St Paul says, ‘The Son of God… loved me and gave himself for me’ (Galatians 2:20). Jesus knows and loves each one of us with a human heart, with his Sacred Heart. The journey of faith is really about coming to know this love in deeper measure. We encounter this love when in prayer, when we read the scriptures or hear them read in the liturgy and supremely when we celebrate and receive the Eucharist. In this Year of Faith we ask for a deeper revelation of God’s love.
Lord God, through the power of the Holy Spirit you have poured out your love into our hearts. May this love bear fruit in my efforts for peace.
